Settling back in

It's a crazy thing to be so close to leaving and end up staying. I'm settling back in now and it's made me more busy than ever! David's new promotion has made his work schedule a little confusing for all of us and we haven't found our rhythm yet, but I know we will soon. I've sold three items from my Etsy shop! It's so exciting. It's such a small thing, but it feels as if I've accomplished a little something and proven to myself that I can do it. This weekend I went shopping for the perfect packaging. A, you'll have to let me know what you think! I'm working on business cards and figuring out how to print postage. I've got to squeeze in time to make more jewelry as the store was bare to begin with and now I only have five items. I did purchase some beads at the flea market this weekend and I received some that I ordered from other Etsians. I'm very excited to see what I can create with them.
I've almost finished enrolling Erin for the California Virtual Academy. It may seem crazy, but since we first talked about the idea of homeschooling she has been a different child. I don't have to fight with her to get her to clean her room or help out around the house. She's taken more initiative when it comes to cooking. Last night she made cookies from scratch all by herself. Normally she wouldn't even attempt to do that without me standing right by her helping every step of the way. Once school work is introduced to the equation things may change, but I'm going to give it at least a month to get a routine going. We've agreed that if she can maintain her school work and help out around the house for a month we will buy her a guitar and sign her up for guitar lessons. This comes with the understanding that the guitar will technically belong to me and can be taken back at any time if she doesn't stick to our agreement.
I also picked up a copy of Bay Area Parent yesterday and am excited about some of the activities they have listed in their calender which lists activities for adults and parents across the bay area. There are several moonlit hikes that deal with Astronomy and a few other learning adventures that will be great for Erin. I'm going to try and commit to two activities a month so that I don't overwhelm myself.
I'm also looking into a membership at the Y, but really need to decide if I want to drive all the way to where it is or not.

Have you thought about adding some of your scrapbooking stuff on etsy or even making greeting cards - I love the cards you send me!

The way you do school will just kind evolve with what you find works for you and Erin. I don't know how strict the online thing will be, probably a lot more so than what we do, but, I have found a lot of flexibility in the way I can teach Seth. New things, new ways to keep him interested in learning - like the outdoor stuff you mentioned. Before you know it you will be amazed at all the "teachable moments" that happen in your day to day life.
